and another Named Storm… September 7, 2011

As it appears that hurricane Katia is going to miss the East Coast, Maria is another storm we need to monitor. Currently, Maria is a Tropical Storm with 50mph sustained winds and expected to increase in strength over the next few days. We’ll continue to watch and see if this one will have any impact on our coast.
On another note, Charleston just surpassed the 125 year anniversary of the 7.3 Earthquake that rocked our town. The estimated damage was $6 million (in 1886 dollars)! Hopefully we can go another 125 years.
