Folly Beach still damaged after IRENE January 30, 2012

Four months later and Folly Beach is still showing signs of damage from Hurricane Irene. The big waves and heavy winds took a toll on the healthy sand dunes and wide beach. The Washout, which draws surfers, is found with no beach even at low tide. Folly Mayor, Tim Goodwin took State and Federal officials to the damaged areas in hopes of getting the Army Corps of Engineers to come in and re-nourish the beach. The estimated cost is $18 million!
