Interesting Flood Insurance facts about Hurricane Isaac August 30, 2012

“Seven years after Katrina thrashed the Gulf Coast, Hurricane Isaac flooded some areas of Louisiana and Mississippi this week, dumping heavy rains as it crawled inland. But fewer people  NOW  have flood insurance policies in those states than in 2006, when the number of flood polices in place surged after 2005’s Hurricane Katrina, according to the Insurance Information Institute. In Louisiana, the number of flood insurance policies in force was 30% higher in 2006 than in 2003, and in Mississippi, it was 80% greater in 2006 than three years prior, III data shows. But as of May 31, the number of flood policies in those states was 1%  LOWER  than 2006 levels. “
